Survey

As part of this project, CESMA led focus groups in the four governorates in question, namely Jendouba, Tataouine, Sidi Bouzid, and Sousse. The objective of this action was to find out from citizens, from a studied sample, their perception of the public health sector. This participatory approach is essential for the project. The results of this action will subsequently be published under the title “citizens and public health: perception and issues”.

Seminars and webinars

As part of the “Health Democracy” project, the research team, reinforced by the presence and participation of several scientific experts, was able to organize two webinars and a scientific seminar. It was during these events and through the fruitful exchanges between health specialists that the concept of “local quality health system” emerged.

Tunisia facing the pandemic

As part of the monitoring of the pandemic which was taken as a real example of the responsiveness of the Tunisian health system, the project team was interested in studying the evolution of the epidemiological situation as well as the question of vaccination. Mohamed Ayoub Tlili, researcher in health sciences, has thus produced two documents reflecting a realistic image of these two aspects.

General data on the evolution of the pandemic

During the first wave, it is clear that the government’s reaction and the measures undertaken and announced were timely, early enough (before the peak) to decrease, or even stop the spread of contamination. However, in subsequent waves, the government adopted a “stop and go” strategy and management was reactive rather than proactive. The graphs demonstrate how the actions taken came late, during peaks.
Moreover, this fifth wave seems to be the strongest. This may be due to the emergence of new strains (British and Indian), recognized for their high capacity for propagation.
